Päivitetyissä avaimenperissä avaimenperä nukahtaa 40 sekunnin liikkumattomuuden jälkeen, eikä lähetä dataa auton lukitusjärjestelmille.
FORD MAKES WIRELESS KEYS MORE THEFT-PROOF
Introduction to Focus and Fiesta in Europe
Radio keys have repeatedly proven to be a weak point in car insurance. Ford is now making its keys more anti-theft with a motion sensor.

With the meanwhile widespread radio keys for cars thieves could hijack again and again the radio signal transmission of the key to the car and thus gain access to the car. F ord wants to use a new technology to block this illegal key access.

Key falls asleep
The new keys incorporate a motion sensor that drops the key into a sleep mode after a 40 second motionless period. Then, even if the key is in the vicinity of the vehicle, the key no longer transmits data that could intercept thieves. With this, thieves are blocked this way to get into a vehicle.

The new key is introduced with the new Ford Fiesta. The Ford Focus will be equipped with it from May. All other Ford models will be converted to the new key technology over the next two years. If you do not want to wait that long, you can reorder an original spare key on younger Ford Fiesta and Focus models, which is then equipped with this technology. However, a duplicate key costs around 80 euros and then has to be trained by a dealer on your own car.
